Tianguis Turístico México 2027 runs from Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 March at the Centro Expositor in Puebla, and buyers who want an appointment schedule included must complete online registration by 10 February 2027. Tianguis is the annual tourism business forum of Mexico's Secretaría de Turismo (SECTUR), where Mexican destinations and tourism suppliers meet national and international buyers in pre-scheduled appointments. The organising company, Creatividad y Espectáculos, S.A. de C.V., runs registration and the appointment system.
The host destination changes between editions. After Acapulco in 2026, Puebla won the 51st edition through an evaluation by representatives of the sector's main national chambers, and the show returns there after almost 14 years, according to SECTUR.
Who exhibits and who attends Tianguis Turístico?
For the 2026 edition, held in April at Expo Mundo Imperial in Acapulco, SECTUR's closing results report 3,942 exhibitors, 1,323 exhibiting companies, 1,402 buyers and 64,138 business appointments.
Exhibitors are Mexico's states, destinations and tourism suppliers, and the organiser says other countries take part too. For 2027, SECTUR says it will build on the main source markets, the United States and Canada, and attract buyers from China, Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, Colombia and Brazil. New this time is a Community Tourism Pavilion for each participating state, where more than 300 community experiences can sell their products directly.
"Community tourism is the heart of our country. In this edition each state will have a space to show its experiences, each identified by name, so that they can create business opportunities and shared prosperity," Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, said at the 2027 launch (our translation).
How to attend Tianguis Turístico: buyer registration and fees
Buyers, in the organiser's definition, are tour operators, wholesalers, incentive companies, event and conference organisers, wedding planners, charter operators, travel agencies and OTAs. Media, marketing, technology and tourism representation companies register as Marketing & Technology participants: they can request appointments, but exhibitors must confirm them.
Registration opened in October 2026. Submit the pre-registration form on the organiser's Buyers page and a registration link and reference number follow within 72 hours, subject to SECTUR's approval. First-time buyers apply through a separate form for review by the sales team.
The 2027 policies say the fee depends on the date of online registration, but as of 1 November 2026 the organiser had not published the 2027 fee table. The 2026 rates, for reference:
| 2026 badge | Booked | Price (US$, plus tax) |
|---|---|---|
| Flash Buyer (non-refundable) | Until 16 January | 50 |
| Intermediate Buyer (non-refundable) | 17 January to 28 February | 75 |
| Regular Buyer | March | 100 |
| On-site Buyer | April | 200 |
| Marketing & Technology | Early bird / regular and on site | 200 / 300 |
The three cheaper 2026 buyer rates required requesting at least 40 appointments by a set date and completing at least 24 on site. Fees exclude flights and hotels, and the organiser's pages describe no hosted-buyer programme. For 2027, cancelling before 23 December (2026 payments) or 10 February (2027 payments) refunds 50%, except on US$50 and US$75 badges, which are non-refundable; after 10 February nothing is refunded.
Is it open to the public? The business forum is not: the organiser calls Tianguis "an event only for tourism professionals". At the 2027 launch, however, SECTUR said the Centro Expositor will also open to the public over the weekend, and Ventana a México, where artisans and traditional cooks from every Mexican state and Mexico City sell their products, runs from 12 to 14 March in San Pedro Cholula, open to all. Public hours were unpublished as of 1 November 2026. In 2026, SECTUR let the general public in free on the final day.
Networking: how the Tianguis appointment system works
Tianguis runs on pre-scheduled appointments between buyers, exhibitors and Marketing & Technology participants, 15 minutes each in 2026. On the 2027 Buyers page, buyer appointments are scheduled and confirmed at the buyer's request only, and requests are made in two phases:
| Date | Step for buyers |
|---|---|
| 10 February 2027 | Deadline for online registration with appointment schedule included |
| 14 February 2027 | Appointment requests open |
| 26 February 2027 | First request phase closes |
| 1 March 2027 | Preliminary schedule on the platform |
| 4 to 6 March 2027 | Second request phase |
| 7 March 2027 | On-site registration starts |
| 8 March 2027 | Final schedule on the platform |
| 10 March 2027 | Business Centre opens |
In 2026, delegates searched companies by marketing profile and ranked their requests. "Perfect Match" requests, made by both buyer and exhibitor, came first, then buyer-only requests, then exhibitor-only requests, five of which were scheduled automatically. Buyers could request up to 10 double, 30-minute slots. Meetings ran 10:00 to 18:00, ending at 14:00 on the final day.
The 2027 programme was unpublished as of 1 November 2026, but with the Business Centre opening on Wednesday 10 March, appointments fall between 10 and 12 March. Install the official app, which validated appointments on site in 2026. The organiser also runs seminars; 2026 speakers included CANIRAC on the Michelin Guide and UNESCO on community tourism.
Getting to Puebla and the Centro Expositor
The venue, formally the Centro Expositor y de Convenciones de Puebla, is at Av. Ejército de Oriente 100, at the Loreto and Guadalupe forts where the Battle of Puebla was fought on 5 May 1862. Its operator, Convenciones y Parques, also runs a separate Centro de Convenciones, so check that your driver is heading for the Centro Expositor.
Puebla's Hermanos Serdán International Airport (PBC) lists routes to 13 Mexican destinations and four US cities (Los Angeles, Newark, Houston and Chicago), according to the state tourism ministry as of 1 November 2026. Mexico City International Airport (MEX) is 120 km away, the ministry says. Buses from Puebla's CAPU and Paseo Destino terminals run about every 30 minutes and take around 90 minutes to Mexico City; Paseo Destino also has daily departures to MEX and AIFA. US routes are shifting too: see our report on the US lifting curbs on Mexican airlines' Mexico City routes.
As of 1 November 2026 there was no 2027 hotel list; in 2026 the policies pointed delegates to a hotel page listing hotels and airlines with discounts for fully registered, paid delegates. Puebla's governor said at the launch that the capital has 13,715 hotel rooms, out of 31,987 across the state.
How does Tianguis compare with IPW and the spring calendar?
A close parallel is IPW, the U.S. Travel Association's appointment-based marketplace for US suppliers and international buyers, held from 2 to 6 May 2027 in New Orleans. ITB Berlin follows on 16 to 18 March 2027, the week after Tianguis, and WTM Latin America runs in São Paulo on 13 to 15 April 2027. All are in our travel trade show calendar.
