The Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) is India's flagship business-to-business event for inbound tourism, held in Jaipur each spring. Its 15th edition ran 26–28 April 2026 and hosted more than 11,000 pre-scheduled B2B meetings. Across its first 14 editions since 2008, roughly 3,000 foreign tour operators from 99 countries have attended as buyers.

Who runs it, and why that matters

GITB is organised by FICCI — the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry — together with the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It is supported by the Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Rajasthan and the Indian Heritage Hotels Association.

That backing is the point. Unlike a commercial exhibition, GITB functions as national tourism policy in practice: foreign buyers are hosted, and the pre-scheduled appointment structure means Indian sellers get guaranteed meetings rather than hoping for stand traffic.

Inbound, not outbound

This is the clearest distinction from India's other major shows. OTM Mumbai and much of SATTE are about selling foreign destinations to Indian travellers. GITB runs the other way: Indian state tourism boards, palace and heritage hotels, DMCs and tour operators sell India to visiting foreign operators.

If your business is bringing international visitors into India, GITB is the room where the buyers are pre-qualified and hosted.

Why Jaipur

Rajasthan is India's most established inbound leisure circuit, and Jaipur anchors the Golden Triangle with Delhi and Agra. Holding the bazaar there lets buyers combine the appointment schedule with familiarisation trips through exactly the product they are being sold — heritage hotels, forts and palace properties within easy reach of the venue.

Planning for the next edition

The 16th edition is expected in Jaipur in April 2027; dates had not been confirmed at the time of writing, so check FICCI's event listing before making arrangements. April in Rajasthan is hot — daytime temperatures regularly exceed 40°C — which is worth factoring into any post-show touring.

How the appointment system works

GITB runs on structured, pre-scheduled B2B meetings rather than open floor traffic. Foreign buyers are hosted and matched with Indian sellers ahead of the event, which is why the meeting count runs into five figures across three days.

For Indian sellers this changes the preparation entirely. The work happens before arrival — completing the profile accurately, specifying the buyer types you want, and preparing material for meetings you already know are booked. Turning up to improvise wastes a pre-qualified diary.

The familiarisation trips

Post-show fam trips are a genuine part of GITB's value rather than an add-on. Rajasthan's heritage properties and the wider Golden Triangle are shown to buyers directly after the appointment days, and operators whose product features in those itineraries get an advantage no stand can buy.

Where it sits in India's inbound push

India's inbound numbers have lagged its outbound growth for years, and GITB is one of the few sustained, government-backed mechanisms aimed squarely at correcting that. For operators building international programmes into India, it remains the most concentrated buyer access available.
