Resorts skew newer, the night market at Duong Dong is about food rather than clubs, and the southern cable-car ride to Hon Thom, billed at 7,899 metres as the world's longest sea-crossing cable car, is the one attraction Phuket has no answer to.
Value. Hotels, seafood and activities run at Vietnam prices. A beachfront mid-range stay on Phu Quoc typically undercuts the Phuket equivalent, and the gap widens at the luxury end.
Where Phuket still wins

Things to do beyond the beach. Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay, Old Phuket Town and a deep bench of tour operators give Phuket a variety Phu Quoc cannot match yet.
