Routes World 2027 runs from Sunday 17 to Tuesday 19 October 2027 at Fira Barcelona, according to Fira de Barcelona's event calendar; Routes has announced the edition for October 2027. Routes World, called World Routes until its 2021 edition, is the annual route development forum run by Routes, part of Informa. Airline network planners spend three days in pre-scheduled meetings with airports, tourism authorities and economic development agencies seeking new air services.

It is a business event with vetted registration, not a public show. The 31st edition ran at Messe Frankfurt from 21 to 23 October 2026, after Routes moved it from Riyadh, where it had been scheduled for 27 to 29 October. Barcelona, last host in 2017, received the 32nd edition at a handover ceremony on the final day.

Who attends Routes World?

Routes says its events draw airlines, airports, tourism authorities, economic development agencies and industry suppliers, with media admitted on approval. On the opening day of the 2026 edition, the organiser said more than 2,600 delegates were expected from more than 120 countries, including representatives of over 240 carriers, and that more than 8,500 meetings would take place over the three days. Confirmed speakers included Emirates president Sir Tim Clark, Wizz Air chief executive József Váradi and Lufthansa Group chief commercial officer Dieter Vranckx.

For Barcelona, which the Generalitat de Catalunya and Barcelona City Council are hosting, Routes expects more than 8,000 meetings and network planning heads from 230 carriers. Its announcement links the event to Barcelona's plan for more direct intercontinental routes, particularly to Asia-Pacific and the US. Routes also says more than half of the world's new air services are connected to discussions at its events.

How to register for Routes World and what it costs

Registration runs through a Routes account, which the team verifies by hand; the organiser warns this can take up to 48 hours. Once approved, you choose your company type and registration option, accept the terms and pay by card. The badge QR code is emailed a few days before the event. Your delegate type (airline, airport or tourism meetings delegate, supplier, or no-meetings) decides when you can book meetings.

Routes does not publish Routes World rates on its open pages. Its meetings page asks organisations to contact world@informa.com about meeting packages, exhibition stands are tailored to budget, and the delegate pricing page for its Routes Americas 2026 event sat behind a login. The public pages do not say whether airline delegates pay, so airlines should ask. Journalists with editorial responsibility attend free, according to its help centre, with media accreditation.

Is it open to the public? No. Every delegate needs a Routes account checked by the organiser's team, registration is by company type, and Routes lists no public ticket or public day.

Networking at Routes World: meetings, conference and evenings

Pre-scheduled meetings in the airline meeting halls are the core of the event. Routes advertised more than 40 meeting slots across the three days in 2026; in 2024, slots lasted 20 minutes. Access to the meeting request system is staggered by delegate type. For Frankfurt it opened as follows:

Access stageWho2026 opening
PriorityAirlines and hosted networking stands20 July
AdvancedSponsors, other exhibitors (supplier exhibitors can make up to 5 airport requests), Routes 360 members with meetings3 August
MeetingsAirport and tourism meetings delegates10 August
Routes 360 suppliersRoutes 360 supplier delegates8 October
GeneralSupplier delegates (including ACMI providers) and no-meetings delegates14 October

We found no 2027 timetable as of 1 November 2026. Its standing rule: meetings delegates can request meetings two to three months ahead, Routes 360 members a week earlier, suppliers about a week before the event. Access arrives by email from noreply@app.routesonline.com, and the system runs in a browser and the Routes app. Routes' own advice: keep presentations short, and know the airline's network, fleet and strategy.

A keynote-theatre conference runs alongside; the 2026 programme covered network resilience, fleet planning, hub strategy and long-haul development. In 2026 the evenings brought a welcome reception on day one and a networking evening on day two, with exhibitor networking and long lunches in between.

Getting to Fira Barcelona and where to stay

Fira de Barcelona runs two sites. As of 1 November 2026, its calendar lists Routes World 2027 at Gran Via, where the event used halls 6 and 7 in 2017. Fira's head-office address, on Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina, belongs to its Montjuïc site, so don't take that address on a listing as the venue. Check Routes' venue page before booking.

Gran Via (Av. Joan Carles I, 64, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat) lies between the airport and the city: metro L9 Sud runs from the airport to Fira and Europa/Fira stations, and the road trip is about 12 kilometres.

Montjuïc (Av. Reina Maria Cristina, s/n, 08004 Barcelona) is in the city centre at Plaça d'Espanya: the Aerobús runs direct from the airport, and metro lines L1 and L3 stop at Espanya.

Routes arranged official hotels with preferential delegate rates for recent editions (through HotelMap in 2024), so watch for the 2027 hotel page. Fira's calendar also shows the Caravaning show at Gran Via the same week, from 16 to 24 October 2027.

Routes World and the other Routes events

Routes runs separate regional forums: Routes Americas (San Juan, 10 to 12 February 2027), Routes Asia (New Delhi, 16 to 18 March) and Routes Europe (Antalya, 20 to 22 April). Routes World is not an airshow: manufacturers chase aircraft orders at shows such as Farnborough (see our Farnborough Airshow 2026 preview), while Routes World is about where airlines fly those aircraft. Our airline route tracker follows the year's launches and cuts. Fira Gran Via also hosts IBTM World from 17 to 19 November 2026. Both shows are in our travel trade show calendar.
