Indians do need a visa for Indonesia in 2026, but you can get it on arrival or online before you fly. India is not visa-exempt since the exemption was cancelled in March 2022, so every Indian ordinary passport holder must hold a Visa on Arrival (VoA) or electronic VoA (e-VOA) for tourism. For Bali in particular, the process is straightforward. Officers may also ask for your address in Indonesia and proof of funds.
Do Indians need a visa for Indonesia in 2026?
Yes. According to the Visa policy of Indonesia page updated in 2026, India was added to visa-free in September 2015 but that exemption was cancelled in March 2022 and has not been restored. India is not on the current visa-exempt list, which is mainly ASEAN plus Brazil, Colombia, Hong Kong, Peru, Suriname and Turkey for discretionary exemption.
Indian ordinary passports are instead on the VoA/e-VOA eligible list alongside Australia, Canada, China, Japan, UK, US and about 90 other nationalities. How does Indonesia e-VOA and visa on arrival work for Indians?
Both the physical VoA and the e-VOA are the same permission, just different queues. The Directorate General of Immigration states the e-VOA can be applied for online prior to arrival via its eVisa portal and then presented as a QR at the e-VOA autogates or dedicated counters at participating airports.
- On arrival (VoA): after landing, join the VoA payment queue, pay 500,000 IDR by card or rupiah cash, receive a receipt and sticker, then join immigration. Allow 20 to 40 minutes at busy times at Ngurah Rai.
- Online (e-VOA): create an account on molina.imigrasi.go.id, upload passport bio page, add entry point and address, pay 500,000 IDR online, receive the e-VOA by email, and show it at the e-VOA lane. You still get a 30-day stay counted from the date of entry.
Both allow one in-country extension of 30 days at an immigration office or via the same portal for another 500,000 IDR, taking total possible stay to 60 days on a single entry. For longer or multiple-entry needs, apply for a visitor visa (up to 60 days) or a multiple-entry visit visa through the same immigration system before travel.
How much does the Indonesia visa cost for Indians and how long is it valid?
The fee is fixed at 500,000 IDR for the initial 30 days and another 500,000 IDR for the optional 30-day extension. Cards are accepted at airport VoA counters, but bring a backup card because surcharges and network issues happen. Where can Indians get Indonesia visa on arrival?
