Accor has signed Sofitel Ahmedabad Palladium Mall Road, a 250-room luxury hotel scheduled to open in 2030 in the Thaltej district. The deal marks the first entry of Sofitel Hotels and Resorts into Ahmedabad and extends Accor's upscale push across Gujarat, a state where branded luxury supply has lagged corporate demand. The hotel is developed by Fanidhar Infra and Hospitality LLP.
The signing continues a busy hotel pipeline for the city, coming a week after IHG planted a Garner flag in Ahmedabad's Motera district for 2029. Together the two deals show global brands racing to lock up sites in India's financial and industrial corridor before supply tightens further.
What is being built in Thaltej?
The hotel carries 250 spacious guestrooms with five food and beverage venues offering indoor and outdoor service, approximately 2,550 square metres of meeting and banquet space, a kids' club and wellness and leisure amenities. The mix targets high-end business travellers, weddings and conferences, plus leisure guests pairing the city with Gujarat touring.
Thaltej, a fast-growing commercial and lifestyle zone, puts the hotel close to corporate offices and the city's western expansion belt. The concept blends French art de vivre with local Gujarati culture, standard Sofitel playbook for a market entry.
What did Accor's bosses say?
Maud Bailly, chief executive of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems, said the group was delighted to introduce Sofitel to Ahmedabad, a city known for its entrepreneurial spirit, adding: "Sofitel Ahmedabad Palladium Mall Road will bring our distinctive French zest to the city." Ranju Alex, chief executive of Accor South Asia, called Ahmedabad "an increasingly important destination in India's growth story." The developers, promoted by Krunal Rajiv Bhai Patel, Haresh Patel, Vishal Pandya and Kaushal Patel, said: "We are delighted to partner with Accor to bring Sofitel to Ahmedabad."
Why Ahmedabad, and why now?
Ahmedabad has become a hub for business, finance and infrastructure, helped by GIFT City's growth, industrial expansion and better air and road connectivity. Demand is seen from corporate travellers, non-resident Indians, high-net-worth individuals and leisure guests. For Accor, planting Sofitel now secures the luxury tier while rivals build midscale stock; for the city, a 2030 luxury opening aligns with India's longer infrastructure runway.
The project also fits a regional pattern of brand debuts, from Ennismore's 25hours arrival in Bangkok to Dusit's new Princess in Ipoh, as operators chase Asia's secondary-city growth.

Frequently asked questions
When does Sofitel Ahmedabad open?
The hotel is scheduled to open in 2030 in Thaltej, Ahmedabad's western commercial and lifestyle district. Accor and Fanidhar Infra will use the intervening years for design, construction and pre-opening hiring. A multi-year build programme is normal for a 250-room luxury hotel with 2,550 sqm of event space.
Where exactly is Palladium Mall Road in Ahmedabad?
The project sits in Thaltej, a fast-growing suburb on Ahmedabad's western side near corporate offices, retail and residential catchments. The Palladium Mall Road address puts it amid the malls, offices and housing that feed business and wedding demand. Guests can reach the old city's heritage sites and the Sabarmati riverfront by road.
Who owns the Sofitel Ahmedabad project?
It is developed by Fanidhar Infra and Hospitality LLP, promoted by Krunal Rajiv Bhai Patel, Haresh Patel, Vishal Pandya and Kaushal Patel, under a management agreement with Accor's Sofitel brand. Accor operates the hotel while the developers own the asset, the standard branded-management model for luxury signings.
Why are global hotel brands rushing into Ahmedabad?
GIFT City's expansion, industrial growth and stronger connectivity have filled corporate demand while branded luxury supply stayed thin. Brands are locking up sites now to be open for the next demand cycle, with IHG, Accor and others all signing projects in the city.
