The ASEAN Tourism Forum 2027 runs from 18 to 22 January 2027 in Singapore. ATF is two things at once: a meeting of Southeast Asia's tourism ministers and national tourism organisations, and TRAVEX, the buyer–seller marketplace that runs alongside it.
The policy half
The ministerial track is where regional tourism policy is actually set — visa facilitation, multi-country itinerary agreements, standards, sustainability commitments and joint marketing. Decisions taken here shape what is commercially possible across ASEAN in following years.
For operators, the value is early sight of policy direction. Changes to visa arrangements or cross-border travel frameworks reach the trade press from this forum well before they reach travellers.
TRAVEX, the commercial half
TRAVEX is the appointment-based marketplace where ASEAN sellers meet international buyers. Unlike a single-country show, it presents the region as one product set, which suits buyers building multi-country itineraries — Thailand and Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, Singapore and Malaysia — rather than a single destination.
Hosting rotates among member states, which changes the practical character of each edition and gives the host country a natural showcase advantage.
Why the 2027 edition matters for the region
Singapore hosting places the forum in ASEAN's most connected city, with the visa accessibility and flight links that make a genuinely international buyer list straightforward to assemble. It also sits in mid-January, ahead of the Northern Hemisphere summer contracting cycle.

ATF collides with a busy January. SATTE in New Delhi runs 19–21 January 2027 and FITUR in Madrid 20–24 January. Suppliers covering both India and ASEAN, or ASEAN and Europe, face a direct clash and should decide early which market takes priority.
How ATF differs from a commercial show
ATF is convened by ASEAN member states rather than an exhibition company, and that changes its character. The agenda is set by national tourism organisations, the ministerial track is genuinely substantive, and TRAVEX exists to serve regional policy objectives as much as commercial ones.
For sellers, that means the room is smaller and more curated than at ITB Asia, with hosted buyers selected for relevance to ASEAN product. For buyers, it means access to national tourism organisations at a seniority not usually available on a trade floor.
Multi-country itineraries are the point
ASEAN's commercial pitch has long been that visitors can combine several countries in one trip, and TRAVEX is structured to support exactly that. Buyers building Vietnam–Cambodia, Thailand–Laos or Singapore–Malaysia–Indonesia programmes will find the relevant sellers in one room, along with the ground operators who make the border crossings work.
That is genuinely difficult to assemble elsewhere, and it is the strongest argument for attending despite the January congestion.
