Delhi Police has published a full travel plan for the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit, hosted at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, from September 11 to 13, 2026. A detailed advisory posted on September 7 lists 30 controlled roads across central and south Delhi, diversion points, alternate routes, airport access guidance and a metro-will-run-normally assurance. Anyone flying into or across Delhi this week needs to plan around it.
This follows our September 6 report on summit hotel rates hitting Rs 2.5 lakh a night. The new information is the street-level detail: exactly which stretches close for VVIP motorcades, where to divert, and how airport and railway-station runs keep moving.
Which Delhi roads face summit restrictions?
The controlled list covers the Lutyens core and the corridors linking five-star hotel clusters, the venue, railway stations and the airport: Mathura Road (Subramaniam Bharti Marg to Lodhi Road flyover), Tees January Marg, Janpath, Satya Marg, Prithvi Raj Road, Firoze Shah Road, Ashoka Road, Tughlak Road, Neela Gumbad, Panchsheel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Africa Avenue, C Hexagon, Brig. Hoshiyar Singh Marg, Shanti Path, Sher Shah Suri Marg, San Martin Marg, Tilak Marg, Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Akbar Road, Sardar Patel Marg, APJ Abdul Kalam Road, Kautilya Marg, Bhagwan Das Road, Kemal Ataturk Marg, Kartavya Path, Purana Quila Road, Safdarjung Road and Nyaya Marg.
Expect temporary holds rather than full-day closures on most stretches, timed to delegation motorcades. Roadside parking within 200 metres of controlled roads is prohibited, while medical vehicles and essential services get priority corridors and exemptions. How do you reach the airport and railway stations?
- Take the metro. Delhi Police explicitly recommends metro for airport runs, and confirms services will run at all stations without disruption during the summit.
- Check before leaving. The advisory points commuters to live diversion updates; build an extra 45-60 minutes into airport trips on September 11-13.
- Use authorised parking only. With the 200-metre no-parking rule around controlled roads, pre-booked airport parking beats kerbside drop-offs near the restricted zone.
- Hotel guests in Lutyens Delhi should ask their concierge for the day's motorcade windows; exits onto controlled stretches can be held without notice.
Where should summit-week visitors stay?
If you have not booked yet, favour the airport Aerocity cluster or south Delhi properties clear of the controlled list over Lutyens hotels inside the motorcade grid. Rates are inflated across the capital (we logged five-star tariffs up to Rs 2.5 lakh a night), but a hotel outside the zone plus a metro ride will beat a luxury address you cannot drive out of during holds. Business travellers with meetings in Connaught Place or Chanakyapuri should simply shift them to metro-accessible venues for the week.
